In this post I am going to round up the benefits of CBD dog treats and how they might help your dog! CBD is such a hot topic right now that I hope to educate you on how it can affect our furry friends. People in their 20’s are certainly more open to trying new things and new ways to treat illness but there is a good bit of conflicting information on CBD and its benefits. So, I wanted to summarize here and give some insight to you if you are curious about this topic!
Benefits
Seizures
Dogs can have seizures for a variety of reasons, such as heat exhaustion, cancer, or ingestion of toxic chemicals. These seizures can be traumatic for you and your pet, especially if you don’t know what to do to help them! If your dog has a seizure, definitely take them to the vet right away, as you never know what kind of damage they can do. Seizures can be identified by foaming at the mouth, body stiffness, or muscle twitches, relatively similar to humans. However, CDB dog treats can help prevent these from happening altogether. CBD binds to receptors in the dog’s brain that prevents seizures from happening or being as severe.
Arthritis
CBD can help dogs with joint pain and arthritis because it binds to receptors in the brain and spine. These receptors are responsible for pain levels within dogs. Arthritis happens frequently in older dogs, especially golden retrievers unfortunately so this may be super helpful for people with older dogs! I know all dog owners want to keep their dogs comfortable and playing as long as possible. This might be a good alternative to prescription medication if the side effects are too much or if you prefer natural treatments.
Cancer
Cancer in dogs is just as upsetting as cancer in humans in my opinion. It starts off slowly but gradually takes the life out of your pet, just like it does in people. Cancers in dogs tend to start with lumps somewhere on their body. My previous golden retriever had one under his armpit. The tumor kept getting bigger, and he kept getting skinnier so we knew it was pretty serious. As I previously said, CBD reduces pain for pets which is essential in cancer treatment but it also augments pharmaceutical cancer drugs. These help slow and diminish tumor growth, so an added effect is vital.
Drawbacks
A major drawback of the CBD industry is the lack of research on various conditions or treatments using these products. Additionally, the FDA doesn’t regulate supplements so there’s a lot less certainty on what is in the products. The confusion between THC and CBD is diminishing so I don’t see that being an issue for much longer. I think the main drawbacks come from misinformation about the products and how they are designed to be used. But, like I said, that should go away as the products become more popular!
Types of Products
For this post, I have partnered as an affiliate with Dope Dog, a CBD treat company for dogs! On their site, they have a few different types of products to suit any dog’s needs. They offer edible treats in a variety of flavors, flavored and unflavored oils, as well as shampoo made for dogs. The shampoo is helpful for dogs with itchy or flaky skin and is a product I haven’t seen on the market in other places! Take 15% off your order when you use this link!
Would I give this to my dog?
I would definitely give CBD treats to my dog if it was necessary. Currently, Bentley is in great health and is such a young puppy still that she doesn’t have a need for it yet. However, my mom has a dog who is 14 years old who could definitely use all of the products. She would love the shampoo because she has extremely itchy skin! Right now she has a bit of a cough so I believe the CBD treats would help reduce pain during her coughs too. I will definitely be ordering some for her and trying them out!
