In this post, I’m going to give you a round up of my favorite Charleston, SC restaurants and why I love them! If you are a foodie and visiting the Lowcountry, these restaurants are MUSTS. Charleston is one of the greatest food cities in the world, and I want you to experience some of the best! There are more amazing restaurants in Charleston than I could ever try, so these are just some of my personal favorites that I think you’ll enjoy too.
#1 HUSK
Husk is one of my favorites because of their fresh ingredients and rotating menu. The chef at Husk uses ingredients from local farms to create fresh and unique dishes based on local crops. I think this creates a unique experience every time you eat here! The french toast at brunch is my absolute favorite meal there, but there are so many amazing ones to try. Especially for brunch, you’ll want to make reservations. This is a popular spot! I’ll link their website here so you can check it out for yourself.
#2 Pearlz Oyster Bar
Pearlz is such a fun happy hour spot!! They have several types of oysters that you can put together in dozens. They get the oysters from different areas around the country so you can taste the differences. Pearlz also has amazing seafood options like shrimp and grits or catch of the day. My favorite fish there is the swordfish and I get it blackened! They also have an amazing steak with caramelized onions and chimichurri sauce. That steak is genuinely one of the best I’ve ever had. Happy hour lasts from 4-6 PM so make sure to go during that time! I am linking their website here!
#3 Sol
Okay Sol of Mt. Pleasant is genuinely one of my favorite restaurants of all time. And honestly, I go out to eat way too much so that’s saying something. This is by far the best boutique Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. Their menu is a bit exotic, which is really cool to me. They have amazing margaritas and my favorite is the jalapeno-cucumber one! My dad even makes them at home now and I will do a post with the recipe! My favorite meal at Sol is the bison enchilada. It sounds weird, but trust me, its AMAZING! It has a sweet heat to it that is just fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant!
#4 Felix
Felix is a new restaurant that I have been introduced to this year. It is a really cute little Parisian inspired bistro with a very attractive bartender ;). But seriously, brunch at Felix is a must! Definitely make a reservation here as well. They have amazing mimosa deals during brunch and have several flavors to choose from! My favorite is the pineapple! Pineapple anything is my top choice. The steak frites and eggs was my entree and I LOVED it. I normally don’t love eggs but these were incredible with the steak. Steak is my favorite food, can you tell?
#5 Avondale Wine and Cheese
If you love charcuterie boards, you NEED to go here! I’ve never been to a wine bar before so this may not be unique, but to me it was! You can choose how many “picks” you want so we went with 8. We could pick from so many different meats and cheeses of all kinds, as well as spreads like fig or pimento cheese! It was so much fun choosing what we wanted, which was mostly cheese, haha. They also have an extensive wine list so you’re sure to find something delicious on there!
