Have you heard of the 75 hard challenge? I have been seeing it all over Instagram and TikTok lately. People have seen incredible results and I am in need of some results too, so I figured I would try it out! The premise of the challenge is to test your mental toughness with a list of daily tasks. Those tasks are: 2-45 minute workouts (one outside), no cheat meals, no alcohol, stick to a diet, take a progress photo, drink 1 gallon of water, and read 10 pages of personal development. So, this challenge is no joke!! I wanted to try it so I am rounding up a few items that I think are very helpful in finishing this challenge. I am still working on completing it myself, so here’s what is helping me!
Gallon Water Jug
This is going to be so helpful because you don’t have to count how many cups of water you’ve had in the day, you just finish the jug and you’re done! They are available on Amazon in so many colors so you can show your style and still get those ounces in! Drinking this much water for 75 hard can be challenging but the bottle acts as a bit of motivation so you get through it! I like having this on hand anywhere I go so that I can take the guesswork out of drinking water.
Jump Rope
A jump rope is a great cardio workout that you can do from home. Trust me, you will want to be doing some home workouts during this program because sometimes making it to the gym just isn’t going to happen. So I recommend incorporating the jump rope into your daily outdoor walks to increase the cardio for your outdoor workout!
Workout Subscription/Plan
This has been so essential for me because, as I previously mentioned, going to the gym every day might not be feasible. I currently use the Beachbody on Demand platform but there are so many other great ones too. You could try Peloton, OpenFit, or really any subscription service. Once I finish the program I am currently doing on Beachbody, I am going to start the Alive by Whitney Simmons plan, which I am SO excited about!!
Knowing what your diet will be
Having a diet plan in place is essential. Planning is so important to success in this challenge. You want to know what your diet is going to be and start slowly implementing it before you start the challenge so it doesn’t become too overwhelming. My diet is simply no sweet tea or soda. These two things are very hard for me to stray from so I am not limiting myself with my food as much. Obviously, I am striving to make healthy choices but eliminating sugary drinks is big for me.
Meal Prepping
Meal prepping goes hand in hand with planning. It is so much easier to stay on track when you have a meal already prepared for you. All you have to do is microwave it! This has been really helpful for me because when I have options, I tend to choose poorly. So, I really suggest taking one or two nights per week to meal prep so you can stay prepared.
Home Weight Set
A home weight set is going to be essential to mix up your workouts. Now, I don’t think you need to go and build an entire home gym, but having a couple sets of dumbbells would be beneficial to kick up the workout intensity. I like to use these during the Beachbody barre and lifting workouts. Trust me, you can be sore from small weights too!!
Hopefully this has been a helpful guide in preparing you to tackle the 75 hard challenge! I know you can do it!
